Health in your 50's
You’ve put in the hard work for your career, the kids are growing up and moving out and perhaps you’re wondering if now is the time to start enjoying yourself. It’s also in your 50’s when you need to start paying particular attention to your health, particularly if you’ve neglected it in the past.
You should be getting an annual check-up with your GP and discussing any health concerns you may have. Along with weight, blood pressure and cholesterol it’s also time to talk to your doctor about prostate testing and to start screening for bowel cancer. You may also find that as you age your physical strength, energy and libido are affected. If you’re finding this a challenge you should also talk this through with your doctor.
If you haven’t already you should start to take some time out. Enjoy your down-time and get out and start doing the things you’ve been putting off.
