Shop safe.
The perfect place to start with food safety is at the shops.
So, take a second to check the use by date on food and while you’re doing it, also make sure the packaging is intact and that canned food isn’t dented or damaged so the bacteria that causes food poisoning can’t get in.
And if you take some cooler bags with you to the shops, your cold foods will stay colder for longer.
When you get home put the contents in the fridge right away.
But remember to put your ready to eat foods like fruit and vegetables in a separate bag to your raw meats to avoid cross contamination.
Playing it safe with food only takes a few seconds and it’s always worth it.
